My name is Marissa Figueroa and I’m the face behind Figueroa Photography. I’m originally from upstate New York. I’m a U.S. Army veteran. I served as a 68W combat medic during my time in service and I deployed for 12 months to the Middle East. In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, painting, graphic design & music. I knew I loved photography since I took a class as a teenager in high school. I recently have gotten back into photography & have been enjoying every second of it! It truly is my passion.

Since being discharged from the military, I have become a wife & mom to two beautiful kids. After having my son, my husband said, “you take so many photos of the kids you might as well get paid to do it.” So it got me to thinking, maybe this is the path I’m supposed to go. He later bought me my first crop frame for my birthday and I loved taking photos so much that that hobby turned into a career. Photography has brought me out of some pretty dark places. I had PPD after having my kids — so it’s safe to say it is a form of therapy for me. Photography is so much more to me than just snapping a picture. It brings me so much joy and so much peace. It’s like I’m able to make time stand still.

I want to capture photos that make you feel something. And to be honest I want them to be more than photos. I want them to hold such sentimental value that they transport you back in time to that exact moment.
